Acne is probably the most common unwanted facial condition, certainly among teens. It’s triggered by a lot of things, but what makes it rougher for adolescents is that it can be at its worst when hormonal balances are off. And we all know that puberty is a rough time for our hormonal systems. This is a comprehensive review of the Mario Badescu Acne Starter Kit.

the marie badescu kit for acneWe have reviewed a lot of acne related products on this site, but probably not given enough credit or attention to the product line of Mario Badescu. That hasn’t been on purpose, but I think it’s time to sort of rectify it. Mostly because all the reviews and real life experiences that I can find have been positive, and it doesn’t seem to me that the products are priced out of reach for people who really do need a solution.

You might already know about the Badescu products because a good number of Hollywood celebrities have been fans and casual endorsers for a good long time. First of all, let’s just spend a few minutes talking about acne itself and come to understand the condition better.

What Causes Acne?

Acne mainly is a hormonal condition that is driven by ‘androgenic’ or male hormones, which usually becomes active within the teen years. Sensitivity to these types of hormones, in combination with skin bacteria, and fatty acids inside oil glands, lead to acne. Typical acne sites are the back, shoulders, chest, and face — the oil gland sites. Acne lesions involve cysts, nodules, small bumps, blackheads, and whiteheads. Although acne essentially is a regular physiologic occurrence, specific conditions might further aggravate this condition, which include:

    • Clothing (for instance, sports helmets and hats) and headgear
    • Manipulating (prodding/picking) acne lesions
    • Fluctuating levels of hormones that surround the time of menstruation (for women)

It’s also worth mentioning that acne can continue way past your teenage years. I have a girlfriend who is just now turning 37 and she STILL struggles with it. She’s been very good about not picking at her pimples throughout time, and so she really doesn’t have much scarring from it.

But I know she’s tired of trying to fight it every day. She told me one time over lunch that she was pretty sure it was never going to go away, and she just had that frustrated expression that you get when you lose your hope about something that’s beyond your control. That’s one of the reasons that I’ve written so much about acne treatment solutions here on The Derm Report.

I’m actually very sensitive to how acne makes people feel about themselves, all away from the teenager who frets about how acne might break out before the prom and the bride who is twenty-something and scared to death that she’ll get a huge pimple on the day of, or the day before, her beautiful wedding.

An Inexpensive Way to Try the Badescu Acne Products

According to a testimonial from a customer named Lucy, she has been using the product for around three weeks and it has been amazing! Ever since she turned 21 her skin has been awful, and she never has had bad skin, yet this past year she has suffered with cystic acne and is presently on an antibiotic treatment.

She says it has helped; however, never stopped her from getting those deep, underneath the skin spots which leave scars, until she tried this. She claims not to have had a severe spot since, and she is over the moon, particularly because she’d lost hope that her skin ever would appear clear again.

Lucy is very happy with her skin now and would definitely recommend to anyone! She adds that she’ll surely be re-purchasing.

Be sure to incorporate Drying Mask into your regimen (applying only to broken or breaking out areas) two or three times each week for best results.

This stuff is awesome. I repurchased the cucumber lotion and the face wash in the large sizes. The drying cream is pretty good, not as magical as I’d hoped but it still helps reduce the size of pimples. The mask is stinky but good!!!

Amazon review

This is THE ABSOLUTE BEST acne skin care line I have ever used. I’ve been on accutane, antibiotics and just about every prescription grade acne cleanser, cream, gel and spot treatment available to mankind and nothing has worked for me as quickly as this has. I went from having an entire face of red bumpy pimples to having just 2 blemishes and an even skin tone in ONE MONTH. Definitely a rave review, I couldn’t be happier!

How to Use the Kit Successfully

The Acne Face Cleanser: Two times per day, softly massage on the face in a circular motion, making sure that you not touch the eye region. Rinse using tepid water then pat dry. You can follow up with the astringent or toner.

The Cucumber Lotion: Evening and morning after you cleanse, apply to the face using a cotton pad or ball, and wipe outwardly. Make sure not to touch the eyes. If the product gets inside the eyes, rinse with water. You can follow up with the night cream or moisturizer.

The SPF-17 Moisturizer (Oil-free): Upon toning and cleansing, apply before exposure to the sun and on a daily basis all over the face, making sure to avoid the eye area. Frequently re-apply to sustain protection and following swimming or perspiring. Can be used alone or beneath makeup.

The Drying Mask: Put on a thin skin layer that is clean, making sure to avoid the eye region. Wait twenty minutes then rinse using tepid water. Can be used two to three times per week all around the face or only on problematic areas, which include the chest and back.

The Drying Cream: Until the cream blends within the skin, sparingly apply on pimples using the fingertip. Best as applied before makeup and after moisturizer.

Review Summary

In order to prevent acne and decrease its damage to the skin, follow these tips:

  • Select a cleanser that is specially formulated for acne. Those products oftentimes have benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, which assist in clearing acne sores.
  • Gently clean the face, as trauma to acne breakouts might worsen the acne or lead to scarring. While washing the face, use cotton pads or your hands, as any terrycloth or additional scrubbing material might lead acne sores to rupture.
  • If you have to use a moisturizer, only use noncomedogenic, light moisturizers that don’t aggravate acne.
  • If you’re a woman, use a foundation that is free of oil. Heavy make-up or additional cosmetics which block pores might cause an acne flare-up.

Mario Badescu Acne Starter Kit should be a must-have routine made to offer troubled skin a fresh beginning. The Acne Facial Cleanser is a day-to-day face wash that is specially formulated to deep clean all troubled skin, as well as encourage a clearer-appearing complexion.

The Special Cucumber Lotion includes a clarifying toner made to control excessive oil and refresh skin that is congested. The SPF-17 Moisturizer includes an oil-free moisturizer which generates lightweight hydration that keeps troubled skin balanced.

The Drying Mask includes a powerful mask that is formulated with kaolin, sulfur, and additional natural minerals that decongest pores, target breakouts, and eliminates oil that clogs pores. The Drying Cream includes an overnight solution which targets and assists in drying up small pimples and bumps.
