Sick of seeing little brown splotches on your skin that mar your otherwise beautiful appearance? Who isn’t? Dark spots are a dreadful plague – an extremely common one at that. The good news, though – is that they’re easy to get rid of if you’ve got the right tools.
Perhaps the fastest and safest way to remove these bothersome blemishes is by using a topical treatment. Today, we’re going to take a look at Kiehl’s Dark Spot Corrector – a relatively popular option. Below, we provide a full Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution review to help you figure out if it’s the right product to help get rid of your spots.
Kiehl’s Dark Spot Corrector Review
Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution is a daily-use, topical serum designed to gradually fade the appearance of dark spots, bring uniformity back to the overall skin tone, and treat other forms of hyperpigmentation.
The company behind the serum claims that Kiehl’s Dark Spot Corrector is capable of aiding in the eradication of dark spots of several kinds. The serum is made using a unique blend of vitamin C, white birch, and peony extracts, among other ingredients.
According to the manufacturer, individuals that use Kiehl’s on a daily basis will notice reduction in hyperpigmented spots and generally brighter, more radiant skin overall.
Who is Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution For?
Women, men, and even teens that are dealing with embarrassing dark spots that make their skin tones appear uneven. Although, in our honest opinion, there are much better alternative products that provide more significant results that cost about the same or, in some cases, less than Kiehl’s.
Nevertheless, the serum is intended to be used by anyone concerned with dark spots on their face, arms, legs, or elsewhere on the body.
Those that are typically most concerned with these sorts of skin issues, though, are, of course, women. Dark spots and other forms of skin discoloration tend to affect women 30 to 50+ the most. These spots can form for a variety of reasons including, but not limited to, excessive sun exposure, hormonal imbalances, chemical burns, acne scars, and more.
Does it Work on Freckles?
This is a question that’s asked about nearly every skin lightening or dark spot corrector product on the market. Freckles, in many cases, are able to be reduced, but are generally more difficult to fade away than just a normal dark spot.
That said – yes, products like Kiehl’s Dark Spot Corrector are usually able to assist in reducing the appearance of marks such as freckles. There are no guarantees, though.
Most women that attempt to lighten or fade freckles on their body wind up having to use a spot corrector for several months or get laser skin resurfacing treatments to fully remove them.
Kiehl’s Dark Spot Corrector Review: Cost
The Kieh’s dark spot solution serum is available in 3 different sizes.
Here are the prices for each bottle size:
- 1.0 fl oz – $49.50
- 1.7 fl oz – $78.00
- 3.4 fl oz – $132.00
Overall, the price is pretty typically for a premium-grade dark spot corrector. Kiehl’s is slightly more expensive than others we recommend here on The Derm Report, but it’s not terrible.
The major concern, though, is the fact that the results from this product are much less noticeable and come much slower than with other skin tone correctors. For that reason, we don’t recommend buying Kiehl’s.
Want something that actually works and won’t be a waste of your money? We highly recommend trying either Illuminatural 6i (our personal favorite) or Meladerm (another great option) to tame your dark spots.
So, what exactly is in Kiehl’s Dark Spot Corrector? That’s a question you should ask yourself about literally every cosmetic you ever intend to buy. It’s extremely important to know what we put in or on our bodies.
Kiehl’s markets this serum by honing on the three main components: Activated C, White Birch Extract, and Peony Extract. That, of course, isn’t the full list of ingredients found in the product, though.
Here is the complete ingredients list:
- Propylene Glycol
- Alcohol Denat
- PEG/PPG/Polybutylene Glycol
- Hydroxypropyl Tetrahydropyrantriol
- 3-0-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid
- Salicyclic Acid
- Xantham Gum
- Potassium Hydroxide
- Citric Acid
- Sodium Citrate
- Lavender Oil
- Disodium EDTA
- Citrus Peel Extract
- Paeonia Root Extract
Now you can probably see why they only list the main three. This list isn’t quite as sexy, is it? It’s a TON of chemicals. Yet another reason why we suggest using other products that are made with mostly natural plant extracts rather than lab-made concoctions.
Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution Reviews
So, what do actual consumers (you know- REAL people) think about Kiehl’s? Well, to be honest, they aren’t too impressed with it. In fact, Kiehl’s struggles to maintain even a 3 out of 5 star rating due to many negative reviews.
Many people complain that the serum isn’t worth the money. They say that even after months of regular use (as recommended by Kiehl’s for best results) that they didn’t see any significant improvement in their skin tone at all.
There are, of course, positive reviews as well – but even some of those consumers have said that the results are minimal and take a long time to see. When you’re dropping $50 a bottle per month (minimum) on a product – you should definitely see more noticeable, better results after continued use.
This is why we highly recommend using Illuminatural 6i or even Meladerm Cream instead. These products provide fast, consistent results, work incredibly well on dark spots, and also sport money-back guarantees so you don’t risk a dime if you’re not thrilled with the results you get.
To conclude our Kiehl’s Dark Spot Corrector review – it’s a pass for us. The results are too little and too slow to justify a recommendation.
